In an international marketing competition that involved nearly 1,500 submissions from 10 countries, RedRover Sales & Marketing Strategy has brought home a Platinum Summit Marketing Effectiveness Award on behalf of Memphis International Airport.
About RedRover’s Winning Entry for Memphis International Airport:
When popular airport spokesperson, Tony Allen, was released by the Memphis Grizzlies, there was a great curiosity in the community about who would be the next airport spokesperson. RedRover decided to involve community leaders in the discussion about a successor to the beloved spokesperson they had put in place for the airport in 2016.
RedRover held mock auditions for the next airport spokesperson, inviting some of Memphis’ most recognizable faces, including Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland, former Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell, beloved local weatherman Dave Brown, former NBA star and Tigers basketball coach, Penny Hardaway, Grammy-winning and Songwriter Hall of Fame musician David Porter, and many more.
While geared toward entertainment, the mock auditions all showed the community the many area influencers’ who support the airport as its modernization efforts continue to unfold. Each mock auditionee participated in a volunteer capacity at no cost to the airport. The primary goal of this approach – and all of RedRover’s marketing for the airport – is to remind the community that the long process of creating positive changes and new benefits is well underway at Memphis International Airport.
“The results we generate for our clients are the real goal at our agency,” said RedRover founder and CEO Lori Turner-Wilson. “We’re pleased when we receive international accolades, especially from an organization that focuses on recognizing campaigns which deliver meaningful results, because that’s the heart of our model. Most clients care far more about moving the needle than they do simply about clever creative. And the incredibly talented team at RedRover delivers on both fronts.”
The overall video campaign included social media channels (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram); Memphis International Airport’s website (flymemphis.com); public relations; a TV commercial and a social-media contest.
